Month of Weddings and Gatherings
I have laid off blogs for almost two months now and just began to dust off my electronic diary for new entries.
Despite the unusual wet spell due to global climate change and various signs of our Earth entering a new phase of evolution, the Lunar 5th month (equivalent to June) is always one of the popular seasons for wedding bells especially amongst the Chinese community.
So many couples in their twenties, thirties and fourties are busy with wedding reception preparation and honeymoon trips. Indeed a busy time for restaurants, photo studios and travel agencies.
We have received so many pink 'bomb' (wedding invitation cards) that my wife and I had to attend different wedding dinners separately on the same day.
Alongside these wedding invites, there were two gatherings (Primary and Secondary school mates) organized by my old friends this month. Fortunately, both were Hi-tea at hotels in the city that I can make my way to the dinner reception one after the other.
Looking back at both occasions, they were indeed happy moments. I get to meet school friends that I have not seen for more than 20 years. Talking about the good old days (made me felt so old now), the younger generation, recent development etc. So many to talk about in such short time. In the wedding dinners, everyone are in jolly good mood judging from the way they say "Yum Sing" and pouring tonnes of whisky and brandy down their throat. The 8 - 10 courses meal is normally sumptuous if you could stop thinking about the cholesterol and all those laad that can shorten our lives.
At the end of both functions, everyone greets and wish each other well. Another chapter of our live and some photos to remember the occasion. I missed the gatherings, I missed the wedding receptions. Must be getting old and finally realize that the clock is not turning back.
